As women age, their breasts often lose firmness and shape due to decreased skin elasticity, leading to sagging. Factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight gain, and loss contribute to this issue. Women experiencing sagging breasts may consider a breast lift (mastopexy) as part of body contouring to restore a youthful appearance. If there are concerns regarding excess volume or size, a breast reduction can be performed simultaneously. Additionally, volume loss can be addressed through breast augmentation during the same procedure, allowing for improvements in asymmetries as well.
During this cosmetic surgery, excess skin is removed, and the nipple-areolar complex is elevated to enhance the overall contour of the breasts. Depending on individual preoperative size and appearance, the nipple-areolar complexes might also be reduced. The incisions made during the procedure may encircle the nipple-areolar complex, extend into the front of the breast, and follow into the breast fold, tailored to address the degree of droop, asymmetry, and volume considerations. For expert consultation, patients may seek the services of Dr. John Tedesco, who is renowned for various procedures, including facial cosmetic surgery.
